Engagement Rate Calculator
Calculate your engagement rate: (likes + comments + shares) ÷ followers × 100.
Engagement rate
How to use this tool
- Enter the follower count for the account you are measuring.
- Add likes, comments and shares from the same post or matching post averages.
- Read the percentage and compare posts using the same formula.
How it works
Follower-based engagement compares interaction counts with follower count: (likes + comments + shares) ÷ followers × 100.
The result updates as you type and is labelled Low (under 1%), Average (1–3%), Good (3–6%) or Excellent (6% or more).
You can use numbers from a single post or averages across several posts.
Example
A post with 400 likes, 30 comments and 20 shares on an account with 10,000 followers has (400 + 30 + 20) ÷ 10,000 × 100 = 4.5% engagement — rated Good.
Limitations
- This formula is based on followers. Some platforms and agencies use views or reach instead, which gives different numbers.
- The rating bands are general guidelines and differ between platforms and account sizes.
- Saves and watch time are not included.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good engagement rate?
This tool labels 3% to under 6% as Good as a rough guide, not an industry benchmark. Compare posts using the same formula, platform and account context.
Should I use averages or one post?
Averages from your last 10 or so posts give a more reliable picture than a single post.
Why does it say to enter followers above 0?
The rate is divided by your follower count, so it cannot be calculated with zero followers.
